LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Ingham County Housing Trust Fund has announced that nine nonprofits and local government-run programs will receive $2.48 million in Housing & Homeless Millage grant awards to help residents currently experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The grants are designed to expand emergency shelters, essential services, shelter diversion, and housing case management, the county said.
The Ingham County Board of Commissioners approved $1 million in 2024 Housing and Homeless Millage funds, committing to add nearly $1.5 million in 2025.
The following nine programs will receive funding, with awards of up to $400,000 through 2027:
- Child and Family Charities: Shelter Diversion Program, providing direct housing and assistance to help participants retain or secure housing and avoid homelessness.
- Haven House: Emergency Shelter services, including outreach and housing support.
- Ingham County Health Department: Shelter and Eviction Diversion and SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery) case management services.
- Mid-Michigan Tenant Resource Center: Crisis support and tenancy empowerment, including resource navigation and court accompaniment.
- Refugee Development Center: Refugee Newcomer Navigation Program, providing housing navigation and essential housing resources.
- DAP Services and Resources: Senior Stability Program delivering emergency shelter and housing support for vulnerable seniors and chronically ill residents.
- Punks with Lunch: Street Outreach program purchasing and retrofitting a mobile hygiene unit to provide services to unhoused neighbors.
- Charter Township of Meridian: MC4MT (Meridian Cares for Meridian Township) eviction prevention and direct housing assistance.
- Mason Community Schools: Home Sweet Home Program for eviction prevention and housing assistance.
